Who is the favourite to win the 2023 Men’s US Open?

The 143rd edition of the US Open begins at Flushing Meadows on Monday.

On the men’s side of the draw, Carlos Alcarez is the defending champion, having defeated Casper Ruud in four sets a year ago to claim his first Grand Slam title. The young Spaniard followed that up by winning Wimbledon last month.

Carlos Alcaraz heads into this year’s US Open as the second favourite with odds of 7/4. 23-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic heads into the 2023 US Open as the 10/11 favourite. The Serbian has only won this event on three occasions though; 2011, 2015 and 2018.

Djokovic is 38-5 on the year, winning 4 titles. He most recently came from a set down to beat Carlos Alcarez at the ATP Masters 1000 in Cincinnati last week.

2021 winner Daniil Medvedev will be taking a good run of form into this year’s US Open as the 7/1 third favourite. The 27-year-old hasn’t been able to follow up his success here two years ago with a second Grand Slam, but has reached the Australian Open final in both 2021 and 2022, also on a hard court surface.

Medvedev is 49-11 on the year, winning 5 titles.

Jannik Sinner is at 14/1 and Alexander Zverev 28/1 are the fourth and fifth favourites respectively.
