The first tennis Grand Slam of 2023 kicks off on Monday 16th January at Melbourne Park.
Defending men’s champion Rafael Nadal has been handed a tough opener by drawing in-form Jack Draper from Great Britain in the first round.
Nadal came from 2 sets down to beat Daniil Medvedev 2-6 6-7 6-4 6-4 7-5 in the thrilling final 12 months ago.
Nadal is currently the fifth favourite to defend his title, with sportsbooks giving him a price of 16/1 to lift the Norman Brookes Trophy.
It is Novak Djokovic who is the favourite to win the 2023 Men’s Australian Open, with sportsbooks making him odds on at 5/6.
The Serbian will head to Melbourne having won the Adelaide Open 1 this past weekend and having drawn world number 75 Roberto Carballes Baena.
Djokovic is currently down at number 5 in the world rankings but had won the Australian Open for three successive years prior to Rafael Nadal’s triumph in 2022.
