Chiefs Super Bowl favourites again following Ravens thrashing

The Kansas City Chiefs have been installed as the sportsbooks’ favourites to win the 2021 Super Bowl following their dominant 34-20 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football.

Although Andy Reid’s side had started the new season as the favourites, the reigning champions saw their odds slip behind the Baltimore Ravens after week 2.

The Chiefs had struggled in needing an overtime victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, whilst John Harbaugh’s side had destroyed the Cleveland Browns and Houston Texans in the opening week, and heading into the prime time game with the league’s number 1 defence.

Aside from a spell either side of half-time, which included a missed Field Goal, a lost fumble and a turnover on downs, the Chiefs dominated the game.

Patrick Mahomes and co led 27-10 at the half, with Baltimore’s sole touchdown coming from a kickoff return – the first in the NFL this season.

Lemar Jackson ended the game with 15/28 completions for just 97 yards, rushing for a further 83.

Meanwhile, Mahomes completed passes to eight different receivers, with five of those having at least four catches. The reigning Super Bowl MVP went 31/42 for 385 yards and 4 touchdowns and ran the opening score in himself. Anthony Sherman, Tyreek Hill, Mecole Hardman and lineman Eric Fisher catching the TDs.

As a result, the sportsbooks have now shifted the Chiefs’ odds down to 4/1 to win the Super Bowl, whilst the Ravens have dropped back to 13/2 second favourites.
