The LA Lakers and Miami Heat will go head-to-head in the 2020 NBA Finals from Wednesday after a fairly easy ride in the playoffs so far.
Frank Vogel’s side came through their semi-final with a 4-1 thrashing of the Denver Nuggets, giving them an extra day’s rest and one game less than the Heat, who needed six games to see off the Boston Celtics.
Both these sides only dropped three games to reach the Finals – Miami were 4-0 winners over the Indiana Pacers in the First Round and saw off the Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 in the next round.
As for the Lakers, they have been consistent throughout the playoffs, winning all of their series by a 4-1 scoreline. First they beat the Portland Trail Blazers and then the Houston Rockets in the Second Round.
Heading into the first game, the LA Lakers are the sportsbooks’ 1/2 favourites to win the 7-game series.
Only the Milwaukee Bucks (56) had more wins in the regular season than the Los Angeles-based franchise (52), whilst the Miami Heat were only fifth seeds in the Eastern Conference.
Miami Heat last won the NBA Finals in 2013, beating the San Antonio Spurs, whilst the La Lakers haven’t been successful since 2010.
