Atalanta and Paris Saint-Germain meet in the first 2019-20 Champions League quarter-final on Wednesday.
The Italian side have looked excellent this season, since picking up just one point from their first four group stage matches. Victories over Manchester City and Shakhtar Donetsk setup a Round of 16 tie with Valencia that they breezed through.
Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have been scoring for fun throughout the season, whilst also tightening up their defence following the restart.
However, the loss of Josip Illicic for this game through depression is a huge loss. The Slovenian attacking midfielder makes the Serie A side tick in the final third, as well as scoring and assisting several goals.
Paris Saint-Germain have played just two competitive games since March as Ligue 1 was cancelled – they beat Saint Etienne 1-0 in the French Cup final and then Lyon on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the League Cup final.
Thomas Tuchel’s side are expected to be without injured duo Kylian Mbappe and Marco Verratti for this game, which will be huge losses. Will Neymar step up to the plate?
The Parisians do still have Mauro Icardi and Angel Di Maria in attack too, whilst Thiago Silva remains at the club until the competition ends. Edinson Cavani has already left following his contract expiry.
Despite both defences stepping up in their recent games I do expect a thrilling game with lots of goals.
Best bet: Over 2.5 goals is 1.67 with Will Hill
