The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing of Rob Gronkowski on Tuesday in a trade with the New England Patriots.
Gronkowski had retired at the end of the 2018 season after winning the Super Bowl for a third time under Bill Belichick. The future Hall of Famer had spent time as an analyst, on reality TV and in World Wrestling Entertainment, where he hosted WrestleMania 36 earlier this month and is the reigning 24/7 champion.
The 30-year-old was continually rumoured to be coming out of retirement last season following New England’s poor productivity on offence, but it never happened.
However, Tampa Bay have pulled off a surprise coup with the star coming out of retirement to reunite with Tom Brady for the 2020 season, provided it goes ahead.
As a result of the Buccaneers off-season deals prior to the start of the 2020 NFL Draft on Thursday, the Florida franchise have seen their odds cut to 12/1 fifth favourites to win the Super Bowl. They finished 7-9 and third in the NFC South last season.
The current odds for the 2020 Super Bowl winner are as follows:
Kansas City Chiefs 6/1
Baltimore Ravens 7/1
San Francisco 49ers 8/1
