The 25th season of the English Rugby Super League is underway and defending champions St Helens have won three of their first four games to start the new season.
St Helens head into the weekend behind only Wigan Warriors and Castleford Tigers, both who have played an extra game, each with a record of four wins and one loss.
The defending champions remain favourites to go all the way again this season with bookmakers giving a price of 9/4 to win the Grand Final at Old Trafford, Manchester on 10 October 2020.
With a long way to go there is plenty of time for other teams to upset the odds. Wigan are currently the second favourites at 7/2, followed by Warrington Wolves at 9/2. After that the rest of the 12 teams are generally considered long shots.
It’s been a disappointing campaign so far from the Toronto Wolfpack in their first top flight campaign. The Canadian side are being forced to play their home games in Europe and have started the season with five successive defeats. The heavy salary cap investment in Sonny Bill Williams doesn’t appear to be paying off as they have both the league’s worst attack and defence.
