The 2019-20 German Bundesliga headed into the winter break yesterday evening and action doesn’t resume until late January.
RB Leipzig are the leaders at the midway stage. After 17 games, Julian Nagelsmann’s side have picked up 37 points and qualified for the second round of the Champions League. When the competition resumes in February, they will face English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur over two legs.
The Eastern German club have a two-point lead over Borussia Monchengladbach, who had been surprise leaders for much of the first half the season before dropping points in a couple of games before Christmas.
Bayern Munich had been the short odds favourites to start the season and win the German Bundesliga crown for a record eighth time. However, the Bavarians have already ditched one head coach in Niko Kovac this season and currently have Hans-Dieter Flick at the helm.
The heavily invested squad are currently sitting in third place in the table, four points behind the leaders and three points ahead of Borussia Dortmund. The bookmakers still have Bayern Munich as favourites, but with odds as high as 8/15.
Leaders RB Leipzig come in as second favourites at 11/4, whilst Borussia Dortmund are way behind at 14/1. Anyone who thinks Gladbach can cause a huge upset and win their first title since the 1970s can get the Foals at 22/1.
