Massimiliano Allegri is the bookmakers’ early favourite to become the next Arsenal manager following the dismissal of Unai Emery on Friday.
Emery, who replaced Arsene Wenger at the Emirates Stadium, was in charge for only 18 months, leaving the Gunners eight points outside the top four and without a Premier League victory since October.
The Spaniard was dismissed after Arsenal threw away a lead to lose 2-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.
Former Juventus manager Allegri has been installed as the bookmakers’ early favourite, at 5/2. The Italian left the Italian giants in the summer and had been strongly linked with a move to the North London club following Wenger’s departure.
Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg will take charge of Sunday’s Premier League game away to Norwich City.
A list of the bookmakers’ early favourites for the Arsenal job are as follows:
Massimiliano Allegri 5/2
Freddie Ljungberg 4/1
Mikel Arteta 9/2
Nuno Santo 7/1
Mauricio Pochettino 10/1
Carlo Ancelotti 12/1
Eddie Howe 12/1
Brendan Rodgers 12/1
Patrick Vieira 12/1
