3 casinos receive online gaming licenses in Pennsylvania

With a vision of getting the online gambling industry off the ground before the end of the year, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has granted approval to three casinos to provide online gambling operations.

Nine casinos in Pennsylvania, USA applied for online poker, table games and slots as well as a separate license for sports betting back in July. After review, the PGCB have granted licenses to three of these applicants. The successful casinos were Mount Airy Resorts Casino, Chester Downs and Marina LLC, and Greenwood Gambling & Entertainment. They will be allowed to offer online gambling within the state.

These casinos are allowed to open their operations at any time. However, they appear to be taking their time.

Mount Airy Resorts Casino are partnering with PokerStars for their online casino, poker and sports betting operations. However, the Stars Group, who own PokerStars, have stated that their partnership will not be ready for operation until the start of 2019.

The other two successful applicants have not yet indicated any partnerships with software provides to give us an idea of when they may begin their operations. It is not out of the question that they will go with an entirely new entity in the game.

Each casino will have paid $10 million for their online license.

There are still six casinos who have outstanding applications with the PGCB whom are looking to get into the online gambling world within Pennsylvania. It will now be September at the earliest until they are reviewed.
